This Professional Certificate equips boards and individual directors with the practical tools and strategic insights needed to move from basic compliance to making a meaningful contribution to business success. It provides practical content and experienced facilitators, and offers participants a solid approach to transitioning to the next step in their evolution.
It goes beyond preventing scandals and missteps – it empowers leaders to shape stronger, more resilient, and more innovative companies, while becoming a competitive advantage to their organizations.

Programme structure
Six modules.
The programme runs over six modules. Module 1 establishes the diagnostic frame – the compliance, performance and value-creating maturity spectrum, and the five governance principles. Modules 2 to 6 build on it:
- Board dynamics and composition
- Strategic oversight
- Risk management
- Financial stewardship
- Sustainability
Participants keep a workbook throughout, which becomes the raw material for the final project.
Curriculum
The frameworks you will use.
Two frameworks run through the programme and are applied to a real board:
- The five governance principles – accountability, fairness, transparency, independence and responsibility, used as diagnostic lenses rather than definitions
- The four conditions for good governance – People, Purpose, Guardrails and Improvement, each assessed for whether a board meets it nominally or actively
Assessment: an individual governance evaluation project of 1,500 to 2,000 words assessing a real board – its context, maturity, diagnostic gaps and a change agenda of two specific interventions to attempt within twelve months. Fictional or composite boards are not accepted; organisations may be anonymised. Projects are graded by the Faculty Lead with written feedback to each participant.
