About Dr Ron Sookram.
Dr Ron Sookram serves as Academic Director at the UWI-Arthur Lok Jack Global School of Business, and is the School's resident expert on corporate governance. He leads governance interventions and designs customised governance training for the boards of private and publicly listed companies, state-owned enterprises, civil society organisations and credit unions.
Over twelve years at the School he has held several positions, including Director of Client Solutions, Deputy Academic Director, Acting Academic Director and Director of the Doctorate in Business Administration programme. He is Team Lead for the Trinidad & Tobago Annual Corporate Governance Ranking, and previously served on the Trinidad and Tobago Bureau of Standards' National Mirror Committee for the ISO standard on corporate governance.
Before joining the School he was Senior Research Specialist in Corporate Responsibility and Sustainable Development at the Energy Chamber of Trinidad and Tobago, where he helped complete the National CSR Mapping Project — the first of its kind in the Caribbean.
His published work includes peer-reviewed articles and book chapters on corporate governance, corporate responsibility and cultural history.
